What's the error? Maybe your server has blocked the use of that function?

it simply says "server error on line <x>". do i need a sendmail program like in perl?

If your server has blocked sending of emails, then there's nothing much you can do. Anyhow, it's a problem to ask your host about.

It might be, but it might not. There are a number of places where a host could block the use of sendmail. Anyhow, you're going to ask your host about it (if it's not a free one).

Well, first of all, did you edit anything in the default configuration?

And are you connected to the net when you try to send emails?

Yes, I don't think PHP can send the emails on its own, as it's not a mail program.

It might be easier to use an SMTP server (I know where you can get those).
