I live in "Heythuysen" it's a town in the midlle of the farmer's community (my father's a vet), and yes, SOME people still wear these wooden shoes, because these give a good protection against the heavy animals standing on your feet etc. But people don't wear 'em anymore on school or something... That's what i meant.
Oh yeah, and the snack bar is called "friet tent" in dutch. |

Oh and BTW, the wooden shoes are still available in every farming shop (is that the correct translation for 'boerenbond'???), in every size. (not only the keyring size like in Amsterdam!) |
