Hello all,
I’ve used htaccess successfully before with no problems. Now I changed web host (using FreeBSD) which should work with htaccess. Created new directory to be protected and added the htaccess file to the root of that directory. Also added the htpasswd file outside of the root directory to be protected. Okay, you’d think everything would work great. Well, when I go to the protected page…..nothing happens, it just goes directly to the page I’m trying to protect with no login box or anything. What gives?

Thanks for the help. Very Happy

Have you asked your host if they've disabled the use of .htaccess files?

I checked before I started all this. But its always good to recheck. I called them to confirm and yes .htaccess files can be used on the server.
