If my cgi bin has a file permition of:
drwxr-x---
(dr=dir, w=write, x=execute, r=read, -=?, x=execute, -=?,-=?,-=?) |

drwxr-xr-x
(I have tried to set this to 777) |

-rwxrwxrwx
(=777 as I set it) |
Have I the correct settings?
Could someone please explain what is going on with the directories.
If I have set the file to 777 do all the directorys above (including the cgi bin) have to be set to 777?
Would there be any security issues if I set my cgi-bin to 777?
Thanks as always,
Dom. |

setting cgi-bin to 777 is a security risk, it should be 755 |

Thanks Adam,
Any advice on server paths?
I don’t appear to get even a simple CGI script working.
I think it is to do with the paths or the file permissions
Is there a Very simple test script that I could run to confirm that I have the paths and file permissions correct?
Or is there a test script that I can place in the CGI bin to give me information about the server paths that I should be using?
This is driving me mad. and I don’t know how to find out what is wrong (the Perl code or paths or something to do with the server)
I am using Phobos server at www.easily.co.uk
http://easily.co.uk/index.php3?exe=faq&noss=1&sb=n&do=d&id=217
Any advice is welcome,
Thanks in advance,
Dom.. |
