Hi all,

I am trying to get a counter script working and have tried lots of things without success.

a) THE PERL SCRIPT is from (http://www.scriptarchive.com/textcounter.html)
http://www.scriptarchive.com/textcounter.html
and i am changing the following lines of code:

#!/usr/local/bin/perl
$data_dir = "/home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain.co.uk/cgi-bin/textcounter/";

b) I also have tried to change the access conditions of all the files and folders concerned. in windows xp ftp right click on the file and click all the boxes. I do not know how to set the files up to say 755 or 666 say.

1) do any of you use this script?

2) can any of you give me an example of setting up a counter with perl and a cgi-bin?

3) Can you add the command CHMOD in the perl script if so how?

4) do you have to change the .pl to .cgi and place it in the cgi-bin or can you run it any ware with .cgi or .pl?
