Screen Resolutions

Hi there. I'm having a "brain dead" day. I want to have some code in my web page that will make my web pages look the same no matter what resolution the visitor's compuer montior is set to.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I usually use %age widths, rather than fixed widths. So that my site will always take up 75% off the monitor space (or 90%, or whatever).

Hi Miguel,

Hi if you use “%” widths on your WebPages, what base resolution do you assume? You must have an idea of the smallest resolution that would make your page look good. What happens if the user uses a smaller resolution setting?

I am struggling with the same problem at the moment.. I recently looked at one of my sites on a different machine and was shocked what it looked like.

I would be interested what you and other people think about this….

Typically the lower common denominator is 800x600 but 1024x768 is now very popular in the UK.

Yes. I base it on 1024*768 (as this is now the max I can get out of my TFT monitor :'( ), but at least one of my sites should theoretically look fine as low as 640*480 Smile

I have just re done my entire site using 800 x 600 and it looks good on 1024x786 (my normal setting)
