Hi
I am currently installing a php script and I have done many with no hassle but I have never done cron jobs and would like to know how to put the script in.
the web host company allows cron jobs and has the places to put the hours and things similar to this

box box box box box command box
the script is

Code:
* * * * * /PATH/TO/lynx --dump http://PUT_YOUR_DOMAIN_NAME_HERE/scripts/admin/cronjobs.php  > /dev/null

I know about the stars but what I don't know is /path/to/lunx--dump
as I have not got a php page called lynx or know in which directory this should be.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction, I have looked at the cron job tutorial on the hosting company and it says to do something like this :
Code:
* * * * * GET http://PUT_YOUR_DOMAIN_NAME_HERE/scripts/admin/cronjobs.php

but I don't think this is right as pathtolynx has not been used.

Thanks
Gareth

lynx is a text browser.

try '/usr/bin/lynx' , '/usr/sbin/lynx' or simply 'lynx'

/usr/bin/lynx --dump http://something/cron.php > /dev/null
/usr/sbin/lynx --dump http://something/cron.php > /dev/null
lynx --dump http://something/cron.php > /dev/null

one of these should work

Request: Next time please post in appropriate forum

But guests can only post in one area, correct? I suspect that's why the post was where it was...

Don't know where my post disappeared, but I wanted to explain the use of the "Our Site" forum:
  • It is not meant for unregistered users who simply cannot be bothered to register.
  • It is meant for registered/unregistered users posting bugs or suggestions about our site.
