well i tried to calculate age using mktime() but it does not let me calculate the age before year 1970 in which case age becomes 33 all the time. i was wondering.

Are you trying to calculate age from a Unix timestamp, or from seperate variables for day, month and year?

it contains a solution to the problem if your host is willing.
