Does anyone using FileZilla for FTP know about this? What I keep running into, and not 100% of the time, is that when I use either AUTO or ASCII modes to download Plain-Text or HTML files I've previously edited, the line endings are getting changed in some unusual way so that they don't work in several of the Windows platform text editors I'm using.

When I open them in WordPad, there's either no line breaks or only two or three left, where original file had hundreds. Opening them in OpenOffice Writer (an open source text editor that sort of clones MS Word) all my HTML source is DOUBLE-spaced.

The workaround I've found is to download them in BINARY mode, which amazingly makes them look right in both editors. While that works, it's not very convenient. I've been using various Windows FTP utilities for over half a dozen years now, and haven't really run into this before (except with a particular installation of 'Reflection' FTP, which gave me double-spacing in WordPad).

I'm using version 1.9.7, which is about a year old, and while I realize that upgrading might solve the problem, unfortunately, I'm on a shared system where that might not be possible. I've also checked through various release notes and bug posts at sourceforge.net, but so far haven't found mention of this.

Technically, I'm aware of the different line-ending codes used on different platforms (and I'm running into this problem while downloading from a UNIX box to a Windows one), but to be honest, haven't had to deal with this very often, normally just letting my apps take care of it.

I use gFTP, and I've noticed something similar to this as well...when I download in ASCII, I get some weird character at the end of every line...but I usually forget to switch to ascii anyway, so it doesn't bother me Very Happy
