Is there are reverse function to htmlspecialchars() or would I need to write my own function?
I had a look on php.net but couldn't find anything

No, I don't think there is one. However, I don't really understand why you would need such a function... Could you explain? Maybe there's no need for such a function? |

This topic sparked my interest in doing a little research tonight and I found
the following url which you may find helpful:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.html-entity-decode.php
Bottom line, if you have PHP 4.3+ you can use the html-entity-decode function to translate an html entity back to its original character. And, if you don't have PHP 4.3+ an alternative solution is outlined.
