I tried using the flatface hosting signup form, but it doesn't seem to work. After hitting submit, I didn't get any confirmation OR error page, although I filled in all the fields. Have yet to get any kind of e-mail from them either.

This could very well be bogus. Image

its not... there are many sites hoted there, including my own
they have to check the signups by hand, wait a day or 2, and i know there is no comfirmation page. trust them. they do actually host 1300 accoutns, and thats hard to do.
dont use it as a relible service, they may go down within a year or so. but so far they have done a great job keeping this service up.
and wtf is this? im not promoting my own business.... i just use them...

thanks for posting back, lmjto-, and for extra info.

From my end, it was definitely a sort of 'bogus' feeling pressing the form submit button and having nothing happen except all the fields clear out. I tried it maybe four times altogether. Have to say I don't think I've ever seen a form work like that before except while it was still being developed.

I'm not a mod, and I'm also not the one who deleted your post, but this tends to be a moderately serious forum, and I think they've had problems with self-promotion in the past. This problem makes them pretty sensitive to anything sounding in any way like that.

I'd bet there was something either in the content or tone of your post making them think you were just promoting your own host -- maybe the phrase 'send me money'? Image

Hi,

Sorry if I deleted your post because I thought you was self promoting, I'm just being careful as we have had incidents with this in the past, and didn't want to risk it happening again, the phrase about money kinda made me think it was an Ad.

Sure, repost it. If I think it could be objected to, I'll remove it. But you sound sincere Wink

The server's name is Icewolf. Yes, servers have names. No, we did not put much thought into this name. No, it doesn't matter what the name is. It's an AMD Duron 750 with 256mb DDR memory, a 40gb hard drive, a Geforce2 MX-200 and some big friggin' fans. We're on quite a tight budget, so this won't exactly be a top of the line computer in the forseeable future. That doesn't matter anyways because it doesn't take much speed to run a server-- Mainly stability.

Here's a picture of Icewolf shortly after the Canadian Starmen.net 2002 convention

At first glance at this picture, you might think that it's sucking up all of the power in the world. Actually, there are only 2 things plugged into the back of the box: The power cord and the cat5 cable running to the router. No, it doesn't have 2 webcams hooked up to it while it blasts music Very Happy

We're happy to say that we running as smooth as Vodka with Red Hat Linux 7.3 with NO Microsoft **** on here. We use Apache web server, ProFTPd, MySQL, standard Telnet, SSH2, Sendmail, Squirrelmail, etc.

That is the place to let person down, have already applied for for more than two weeks, has not received any reply yet. There is not even a refusal letter.

im not going to bother anymore, if you guys just want to flame it go ahead i was just trying to help and show poeple my host
there is no refusal letter for signing up if you havent gotten it in 2 weeks u were refused. the only reason he would refuse some1 is because of multiple submits which annoys him or accouts that dont seem legit ie:
username:dlghaoiclskjdg
password:dljghkljhc
etc.
