Few questions about COPPA.

Firstly do I need to use it - I'm in the UK but the server isn't.

If I do, what settings should I put in?

If I don't, whats the best way to disable it?

Thanks

If the server is in the US, or some of your visitors are, then theoretically, you have to have it. But in reality hardly anyone actually uses it...

As to the settings, use your mailing address and fax number (if you don't have one I think you can get one on the net).

I've never used it, and have no intention of doing so Smile

Fax Number you can get from yac.com, also get a redirect telephone number too, which I use on my BluesWeb.co.uk website so if anyone wants to offer services, they phone the number, and don't get my normal phone, so if they annoy me, I can just block them Smile

So they're supposed to send/fax their signed forms to me? I always thought they had to be sent somewhere special Embarassed Well I don't think I'll be bothering either Very Happy

Noone is ever going to bother sending the form they will either register again and lie about their age, making yet another obsolete account or they will disapear never to be seen again.

No, they have to be sent to you by the parents, who have to say that they're OK with their child signing up to your forums.

Yep, I realised they needed to be signed by parents etc, I still don't think many people would bother.

I'm not putting my own address on it anyway, so they will either have to lie or find another forum. Smile
