frames for your scripts

Hi, I see a usefull script on your page but I can't use alt-a to copy it to my clipboard because it is not framed. It would also copy the menu. Why not put your scripts in a frame and use this little DHTML box?

Whats wrong with dragging the mouse over the relevant portion of text? works for me.

I disagree with you on that. W3C seems pretty confident in DHTML, giving a tutorial on it in it's schools site. Sure it isn't a standard, it's a combination of standards, JavaScript and CSS and the DOM (Document Object Model). The JavaScript alters various properties of the elements on the webpage.

It isn't the fault of W3C standards comittee that DHTML isn't browser independant, Microsoft have introduced their own propietry standard (obstinately called JScript and their CSS 1 has extra bits) and Netscape is the opposite with good JavaScript but bad CSS and DOM support. Hence the incompatibilities.

But DHTML doesn't suck IMHO, it gave us those dropdown menus that have made many sites easier to navigate, and even those simple onMouseOver images that change when you put the mouse over them is a simple example of common use DHTML. And what about our smilies and BBcode on the post forms?

Dynamic Drive does it's best to inform the developer of the browser incompatibilitis of the scripts. Which is a good thing.
