Hi

I am really stuck on upgrading my phpBB RC-4 forum to 2.0.0. I made a test RC-4 and then tried to upgrade but I got an error when trying to rename all the tables.

I then read the read-me which says

Quote:

Please note that users of Release Candidate (RC) versions of phpBB2 should run the update_to_FINAL.php script BEFORE attempting to access your board. Failing to do so may result in errors and unexpected behaviour! While these won't do any damage they will prevent you using your board.

Ok, this is my order of what I think I have to do, please help me!

1. Upload the files (where is the best place to do this. Do I overwrite the current files or install them into a different folder eg original /forum/forum so I put them in /forum/forum2?)

2. Run update_to_FINAL.php.

3. Go to index page and install from there.

When installing, do I fill in all the fields with the original values, such as the prefix for table names etc?

Thanks

Bill

You shouldn't run the install.php script if you're upgrading.

Just backup your db & files, and try it! If it doesn't work, you can always upload your backup!

Then you follow the instructions YOU posted above, except that you probably won't want to create a new directory, but that's your choice.

I'm not sure what the Upgrade option in the install script is for, but I wouldn't use it, unless you need to. I've upgraded many times without using it.

keep your old config.php
re-upload everything on top of the old files
run update_to_FINAL.php
Done!

I upgraded http://bb2c.multimania.com/forums/ from rc-4 to Final

Ok, I did that, and it seems to have work, but when I ran update_to_FINAL.php I got this error

Running :: ALTER TABLE phpbb_users DROP COLUMN user_autologin_key -> FAILED ---> Can't DROP 'user_autologin_key'. Check that column/key exists

UPDATING COMPLETE -> 2.0.0 Final installed

Is this bad?! I think it maybe to do with that the forum I did it on was brand new as I was testing it! What does that error mean?
