What do you think of this button?

If you like it, I'll make some more to go at the top of these forums (FAQ, Search, Members List, etc...). |

I like it the way it is. I also prefered the origional icons which tell you if there is a new post etc. I find them easier to understand. |

Yes... The "New post" and "No new post" buttons are hard to distinguish. phpBB found a design company to design the graphics and you really can't deny that they are professional |

The whole design was done by Tom Beddard, who is admittedly a web designer, but he is alone, so I wouldn't really call it a company. |

Would it help if I removed the "popular" icons? I think those might be the ones that are confusing, since the "popular - no new posts" icon is dark red. |

The antialiasing of "New Post" is so bad right now - have you just used the "fill" tool on the product image? Also, somehow the rounded rectangles are not smooth enough. |

The problem is that all I have for these images is the GIF files, so I'm sort of stuck. |

I'm not sure if they'd look good. They might look too cramped. Maybe the same ones without the text? |

Even with the new 'New Posts' icon, it's still confusing to tell the difference between 'New Posts (Popular)' and 'No New Posts (Popular)'.
I prefer the standard ones. They are alot easier to understand and I think they look more professional. |

Yes, but they look too "standard". Soon everyone will know them, and they'll become boring. |

Yes, but something which is easier to use is more important than how it looks. You don't have to use exactly the same standard icons from phpBB. You can make some which are just as easier to use. |
