 Uploading CSV into phpMyAdmin

Hi all,

I am new to this site, and pretty new to dynamic web sites. I read everyone's posts about importing a CSV file into phpMyAdmin, and I have tried this with the following error message:

#1148 - The used command is not allowed with this MySQL version

Is this because the version of MySQL my hosting company (ahem...I mean my client's hosting company) is using?? And if so, what version is needed for this request?

I would super appreciate any help!
