How many sites on one server?

Let's say I was to build a server to host a personal web site.

How many sites could be hosted from that one server?
What about e-mail?

Is there any links at this site or others that I could find more info? i.e. size of hard drive, ISP speed needed, raid or sata, and what the he*& is the bandwith all about?

As you have allready guested im a newbee toying with the unknown..

It depends on the spec of the server, the size of the sites being hosted.
There's a LOT of variables to take into account.

My question is in real life hosting with real web servers how many sites do they noramly host on one server?

lets say that the server that they have is top of the line stuff built just for web servering.

I would guess somewhere around 200 sites (that's a limit I'd try to keep to, anyway)

If it was just for web serving then probably depending on disk size, 100-200.
