Good HTML Validator?

Can anyone recommend a good HTML validator to me? I just tried using the W3.org one, but when I put the "DOCTYPE Declaration" in it messed up my layout for my blog. Is there a reason for this happening?

If this is something I cannot avoid is there another site I could use?

Are you using IE6 by any chance? IE6 goes into a different mode depending on the DOCTYPE declaration, but it's nothing that a little tweaking can't solve Wink

Yeah, I'm using IE6. How do I change it? I wasn't sure which DOCTYPE to use anyway actually...!

IE6 has a standards compliant mode (other than compliant to its OWN standards)? Very Happy

Also forgot to meantion, found the W3 one quite confusing, hardly knew what they were saying was wrong half the time! So if anyone knows an easier validator that would be great!

The W3C Validator can be sometimes hard for beginners to use though after a while you'll get used to the error codes. Normally errors tend to be because a DTD has not been defined. Perhaps you could find using a Lint Checker, for example HTML Tidy in conjunction as some help.

The propriety HTML your system uses seems to be close to XHTML 1.0 Transitional thus that would be the DTD you would be seeking. Though unless you really understand how to configure the CMS you'll have a hard struggle validating the pages that are dynamically generated.

Yes, HTML is really good for website because of HTML is really easy to ue. There are lots of HTMLtags ae availabe in the HTML. Therea re also lost of software and programming laguage are also available in the market.
