Hi Daniel,

Customers are permitted to run crons but we review them before adding them to the server.

We wouldnt want to take a hit on reliability because of a few bogus crons in a shared environment.

Thanks for the above feedback guys and girls, its all appreciated.

Service has been appaling these last few weeks/month, my particular server has been running slow for weeks, I have made my feelings known about this to the UH tech support team, but they simply dismiss them saying they can see nothing wrong.

Now the server is down and I have no backups as I reformatted this morning and just before I was going to back up it collapsed and died and hasn't arisen from the graveyard since, the funniest thing is that UH then post in their forums that they are having problems while doing an fscheck, namely that the servers running slow.

Maybe if they actually listened to me weeks ago when I informed them things were going very slowly, and the server was acting weirdly they would have noticed this before now, but noooooooooooo, they didn't believe me when I told them something was seriously up, and who has to suffer? Myself, exactly.

Not Impressed.

HI Justin,

I assume you are talking about "tiger" which is currently down in a filesystem check. This server until this evening had a 99.987% uptime record (monitored by Alertra).

Im sorry your unhappy with the service, but everybody else on that server seems to think things are running fine. Feel free to email me personally if you have any issues you feel are outstanding (matt [at] unitedhosting.co.uk).

P.S. We actually rebooted the server ourselves to force a filesystem check which is why its currently unavailable and it was announced here: http://unitedforums.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1932

One Question:
Why does it only display 9 minutes of downtime for this month when it's been down for over an hour now?

Because the stats arent realtime, it will rollover in a couple of hours and display the downtime for this afternoon which I believe is nearing 1 hour.

Bah updated now.

Server seems to be going as speedy as it used to now, don't know what caused the outage to be extended, but whatever happened it seems to have made the server become it's old self again Smile

Again, I do apologise for the downtime you incurred.

Im sure you would agree its extremely rare to our service as our uptime stats clearly show Smile

Hopefully the coming months will restore your confidence in the server.

No worries, I actually am glad it went down now, because since it's come back up after the two hours downtime, I haven't had the speed/page loading problems I was having before, so That'll do me Smile
