This is a very nasty bug in Windows Media Player 9, to make it eat up all of your RAM, and all of your virtual memory, do the following steps
1) Start Windows Media Player 9
2) Put it in Media Library Mode
3) Leave for 5 hours
4) Take a look at the memory usage
You then should get something like this:
I wondered why my system started slowing up a lot of days in a row and seeming to be low on RAM, now I know why. Something Microsoft needs to fix methinks. |

Wow, sure is nasty. Luckily for me I rarely use Windows Media Player - I like Winamp much better |

I personally use XMMS and GXine hehe
why would you leave it running in library mode for five hours? |

I went out and I left WMP running in the list of music I had on the PC, you wouldn't have thought a static list would have took up 300MB or Ram, cos it doesn't actually do anything, but still. |

for movies I use linux os.
i dont know if geeks tweaked something that all the pr0n looks very good in tux but not so good on windows (uptil xp). xp does have better support, but still lacks the quality that linux gives me |

Windows Media player has never done that for me, but I still use Winamp, for EVERYTHING. Video or audio otherwise. |
