Hello Everyone,
We recently released the official version of our meta-search engine, www.zapmeta.com, after being eight months in beta. Please provide us your input on the following factors:
1. Speed - Fast? Average? Slow?
What do you think of ZapMeta's speed comparing to other meta search engines?
2. Advanced Search and Preferences - Useful or Useless?
Advanced search enables users to restrict their search and the ability to customize the output of their results. Preferences were made to work in conjunction with advanced search. In other words, if you change a value in preferences, it will also be reflected in advanced search if the value is present.
3. Design - Visually appealing or overloaded with graphics?
What do you think of our effort in trying to put a distinction between ZapMeta's design and the plain html design of most search engines?
4. Result Relevancy - On the mark or not close at all?
We wanted ZapMeta to return relevant results, so sponsored links will never be included in the actual results (unless selected in preferences). Along with our smart algorithm, ZapMeta is able to produce more relevant results than most meta search engines. Or at least that's what we think, let us know your thoughts.
5. Bugs and Errors
Please report any bug or error if you encounter them.
Anything you dislike or like? Please let us know, all feedback, comments, and/or suggestions are highly appreciated.
Regards,
Kevin |

Only had time for a quick look, but I'm liking what I see so far - I'll have a proper look soon
Just one thing - Is the Euro symbol that appears at the very top left of the search results page supposed to be there?
could it be something to do with the question mark:

Darren,
I don't see the euro symbol in IE6. May I ask which browser and version you are using?

I also like it, will give it a proper search to try sometime soon I'm sure but as my site comes out top of the list I'm happy with the search I did
Looks visually pleasing, not too harsh, didn't take too long to load the main page and the search results came back quickly.
Not really used the advanced search but it looks as though it should do the job, will test at a later date. Already used the preferences to make searches open in a new window as you can guarantee I'll check a page out think it's rubbish and close it and bye bye to my search page So they're useful to me already.
Overall on the look I've taken it's good but the main question is, can it compete with Google for results, I'm sure I'll find out. |

seemed a bit slow but I was downloading at the time.
Think theres a few too many sponsered links in there and the name is a bit complicated, far easier to type google than zapmeta.
Not very usefull I know. Sorry
[edit]
The quick view feature could be very usefull |

Point One :
Your Open Directory Project Data is about 9 months out of date
Point Two :
Nice to see you add adult websites to general catergories, I sure hope Netscape and AOL who provide the Open Directory, don't take offence to this....

jayant,
It was initially named "Preview" but our sponsor requested for it to be name something else so we went with quick view. But now we are with a new sponsor so it will probably be change back to Preview.
BTW, if you can think of something else let us know. |
